Lumina™

Lumina™ is a revolutionary material that transforms energy-efficient edge-lighting into a dreamlike surface of floating points of light.

Its internal structure carries the LED point source effortlessly across space, allowing designers to build with light itself. Lumina can create a dazzling array of colors and LED temperatures.

Chromatherapy in a Spa

Chromatherapy in a Spa

When included in good design, light and light-manipulating materials help provide occupants of a space with well-being, control, and choice, all of which have become prevalently tied to good health.

In this elegant design by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the LINQ Spa features glittering walls of light created using our edge-illuminated Lumina™ panels. The mood of this space can be instantly altered from cool and calming to bright and high-energy, using sophisticated controllers that finely tune the color and saturation of the light emitted from the panels. The installation spans multiple panels in width on opposing walls and achieves this seamless look by using concealed z-clip hardware to hang the panels which have diamond polished edges to minimize the appearance of seams.

Space defining "River of light"

Space defining "River of light"

Davis and Davis specified Lumina panels for the ceiling of this office building remodel. The panels create a 200 foot long uninterrupted "river of light" that defines the main ground floor lobby, bringing a visually stunning beam of light into this previously dark space.

Sensitile supplied the panels, lighting and hardware as a ready to install package.

Solutions

Our configurable solutions resolve complex design challenges into a kit of parts that includes hardware and lighting. Where possible, components are provided pre-assembled for ease of installation.

Resin

Resin is lightweight and easy to fabricate. It is flexible, versatile, and resilient and can be wrapped and folded into seamless 3-D surfaces and shapes. Available in a myriad of colors and configurations, resin panels may consist of up to 90% post-consumer recycled content. With their layered and laminated structure, resin light-manipulating materials meet the ANSI Z97.1 standard for safety glazing in buildings.

Glass

Commonly available specialty architectural glass is patterned with etching, fritting, or surface textures/relief. Lumina is a fresh take on architectural glass with its distinctive light-emitting property and smooth and easy-to-maintain external surfaces.

Patterns

Light passing through the material is harvested by and emitted from the light points.

These light-emitting points are arranged to produce patterns, such as random, grid, line and gradient designs.

Grain Width

Grain width determines the size of light-emitting points and also correlates with the thickness of the material.

Light Emission

In double sided configurations with transparent face and back cladding, light-emission occurs from both surfaces. In single-sided applications the non-see-through back is typically mirror-plated and light points face the front only.

Light Point Density

The density of light-emitting points can be varied or customized for bespoke designs.

Color Explorations

Color Explorations

Color can most simply be achieved and refreshed with light itself. However this strategy can also be combined with material configurations that have transparent or mirror color cladding or colored film layers to achieve the perfect match.

Environmentally friendly and Sustainable

As well as creating innovative, dynamic spaces, light-manipulating materials will not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during their production or their lifecycle, making them safe for use in an interior environment. They are PVC- and formaldehyde-free and contain no chemicals of concern.

Third party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD's), Health Product Declaration (HPD)s as well as recycled content certification is available for our materials.

Options & Custom Services

Options & Custom Services

FIN

FIN

The elegantly simple, energy-efficient FIN transforms light that infuses through it to floating points of light that emit from both surfaces of its blade like transparent configuration.

Wing

Wing

A sleek architectural fixture that can be used both as a pendant and a sconce adding a bold and elegant statement to any space.

Art Interlayer

Floating points of light celebrate art integrated in the material as an interlayer

Custom Pattern

Computational design allows for customization of patterns and their layout in the panel.

Inlay

Mosaics can be created or shapes and letters integrated, with inlays in the material to express a brand color palette, message, signage and logo or, simply as art.

2-D Shapes

Precise shapes and letters can be fabricated from materials.

Lighting Solutions

Lighting is provided pre-assembled as part of the design solution. It is separate from the Lumina panel and, by design, easy to maintain and upgrade.

Hardware Solutions

Hardware discreetly houses the lighting components and can be specified in various profiles and finishes.

Grain with is related to the size and prominence of light-emitting points. Wider grain, yields a bolder aesthetic and requires a thicker material.
