In the bustling waiting area of Staten Island University Hospital, our Jali Cascata Glass panels transform the necessary division of space into an artistic focal point that enhances the healing environment.

The challenge presented was to separate two distinct seating areas while maintaining visual connectivity and the flow of natural light. Our solution: a series of custom Jali Cascata glass panels that serve as both functional dividers and sculptural elements within the space.

These translucent boundaries, specified by NKA Architects, make a bold architectural statement while complementing the established design language of the hospital interior. Despite their structural presence, the panels project a remarkable aesthetic softness—an intentional quality crucial for creating a calming healthcare environment. This gentle visual weight comes from the panels' sophisticated material composition—two internally textured cores sandwiching a custom yellow chromatic film, further enhanced by iridescent overlays. This meticulous layering creates a complex visual depth that shifts subtly as patients and staff move throughout the space.

What makes these dividers truly distinctive is their bilateral design approach. Both sides of the panels present identical visual experiences, ensuring cohesion regardless of viewing perspective. As natural light interacts with the textured surfaces, the panels cast ever-changing patterns across the waiting area, transforming an otherwise utilitarian space into one of visual interest and gentle distraction.
