Terrazzo Lumina™
A finely-crafted terrazzo, manufactured with patented, light-conducting technology, combines the opposite elements of light and stone into a surprisingly elegant building material. A hidden LED source transmits light unseen, through channels embedded in solid concrete, resulting in a playful myriad of light points emanating from the surface.

Tiles
The black dance floors in this GREC Architects design have a Sensitile Terrazzo™ border along with a central area of edge-lit Terrazzo Lumina tiles™. A warm white LED system illuminates these tiles to create a spectacular dance floor.
Housed in the grout joints, the edge-illumination system can be serviced if needed.
Slabs
Illuminated stair and counter-top solutions are produced to final size with pre-assembled lighting as a kit of parts that is optimized and tested prior to shipment. Illumination is separate from the material and is easy to remove for servicing and upgrades. Slabs have also been used to create art pieces and as light fixtures.
Colors
Terrazzo Lumina is offered in a generous color palette of standard colors, from sophisticated neutrals to bold and lively shades that include solid and speckled options. Custom color matching is available upon request. The color of emitted light can can be specified and color-changing effects achieved effortlessly.
Patterns
Window-like light terminals are arranged on the surface of the material in random, grid, staggered grid, progressive (gradient), or wave patterns for a range of aesthetics.
Terminal Shape
Square, elongated and round light-emitting terminals are each distinct in their own way.
Terminal Size
Smaller terminals are apt for close-up and small-scale applications, while the edgy and distinct look of larger, more widely spaced terminals complement large-scale installations.
Surface Finish
Surface reflectance is imparted by the surface finish - from the high reflectivity of polished pieces to the muted effect that comes from a sandblasted finish. This difference is demonstrated by the shadow of the hand on three pieces different only in their surface finish.
Sealers
The choice of sealer is determined by how the surface will be used. Food safe sealers are used for kitchens, restaurants and bars.
Environmentally friendly and Sustainable
As well as creating innovative, dynamic spaces, light-manipulating materials will not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during their production or their lifecycle, making them safe for use in an interior environment. They are PVC- and formaldehyde-free and contain no chemicals of concern.
Third party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)s, Health Product Declaration (HPD)s, and recycled content certification are available for our materials.
